Eveland, Dennis O.
Dennis Eveland (1960-2024) taught for 35 years in music education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Illinois University, and a Master of Music Education from Vandercook College of Music. He also earned an Educational Administration Certificate from Texas A&M International University.
Mr. Eveland studied horn with Roger Collins, Ethel Merker, Arden Keen, and John Thompson. He has also studied with Dale F. Hopper, Dennis L. Johnson, Christopher Izzo, Roger Rocco, Dr. Victor Zajec, Bart Ghent, Michael Katterjohn, and Kelly Love to name a few.
Mr. Eveland began his teaching career in Toulon, Illlinois and spent 25 years teaching in the United Independent School District in Laredo, Texas. He taught at both the middle and high school levels. He was an Associate Director of Bands at Los Obispos Middle School.
Mr. Eveland was very active marching band arranger, as well as a composer. He wrote or arranged over 50 selections for competitive marching bands. His arrangements have earned several bands advance to Area Level of the Texas State Marching Band Competition. His concert works are available from TRN Music Publishers, C.L. Dennis and his lovely wife, Felisa, are the proud parents of Willie and Tammy.
He wrote commissions for concert band works, marching band works, and orchestra works. He was a member of Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Assocation, and American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). His hobbies include: tennis, golf, working out at the gym, biking, cooking, drum corps, traveling, and listening to music. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
