Dr. David W. Campo is Professor of Music and Director of Bands Emeritus at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. Prior to his appointment as Director of Bands, Dr. Campo was SFA’s Associate Director of Bands and Director of The Lumberjack Marching Band, a post he held since 2004. Under his direction, The Lumberjack Marching Band made many national and international appearances including the 89th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2015. In addition to overseeing all aspects of the band program at SFA, Dr. Campo was coordinator of graduate conducting studies and conducted the S.F.A. Wind Ensemble. As a composer, Dr. Campo has numerous works published with Alfred Music, Theodore Presser, MSB Publishing and Trevco Varner Publishing. He has been commissioned by numerous ensembles ranging from middle schools to collegiate ensembles and his music has been performed nationally and internationally. He received his Bachelor of Music Education and his Master of Music in Theory and Composition from Louisiana State University; his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting is from the University of Oklahoma, where he studied with Dr. William K. Wakefield. Dr. Campo resides in Nacogdoches with his wife Donna.
