An all time favorite movie classic for me is ‘Red River’ with John Wayne in the starring role . I love the sweeping Dimitri Tiomkin score and the story related to the famous cattle drives on the Red River. The mystique of the cowboys on these trail drives has always intrigued me. The ruggedness needed on these often difficult and dangerous drives was matched by a tender, reflective, prayerful side of these same cowboys.
In ‘Red River Roundup’ I wanted to capture the excitement, spirit and busy nature of these roundups as well as the times in the evening when these cowboys had a chance to quietly reflect, through thought and prayer, on the challenges and rewards of a job that was ultimately helping to shape our country in the 1800's.
