About the music – Written for the “Collège Esther-Blondin” music program in Quebec - Canada, Cardassia is a short and simple concert piece for beginner bands. The piece offers an exciting and fun way to teach active / collaborative listening and gives an occasion to work on many basic ensemble playing concepts : functional balance, style contrast (articulations), dynamic contrast and phrasing. Using only 6-7 notes and offering interesting lines and melodies to everyone, Cardassia is an ideal choice of repertoire for a Lirst concert and/or Lirst music festival participation.
