The composer has adapted two classic forms to a more modern harmonic structure and has added a light modern beat to produce a two part piece which should add variety to any band program. The Pavanne offers an opportunity to showcase the woodwinds and French horns (cued in the Eb alto saxophones) and the Toccata lets the cornets and percussion players show their skills in a brilliant piece of moderate difficulty that is sure to be an audience pleaser.
