The first melody of "Songs from the Mother Country" is the tune "Blow Away the Morning Dew" which was used by Vaughn Williams in his Folk Song Suite. The second is "O, Sally, My Dear" and is a Plaintive melody of rather tender porportions, while the last, "The Three Suns" is a ribald tune which suggests a sea chantey.
