Canberra Settings is a work for band based upon some common folk songs of Australia. The selection begins with a tumultuous opening which leads into several flowing melodies depicting events and life of another year. The nature of the music varies throughout the entire work and variety of color abounds after a brief statement of the hymn, "For the Beauty of the Earth." The tumultuous opening returns to set the stage for an expanded version of this universal hymn tune.
