Cheetham, John

John Cheetham, Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the University of Missouri/Columbia, was born in Taos, New Mexico, and holds the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters of Music degree from the University of New Mexico as well as the Doctor of Music Arts in Composition from the University of Washington. Prior to his affiliation with the University of Missouri, he served as an instrumental music teacher for the Albuquerque, New Mexico Public Schools. At the University, he teaches classes in theory, composition, counterpoint and orchestration. Dr. Cheetham is a member of ASCAP and has been the recipient of ASCAP Special Awards for 1988,1989, 1990, 1991 and has also recently received a Centennial Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of New Mexico.
