J. Abelardo D. Flores received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from San Diego State University, where he studied composition with David Ward-Steinman and Merle Hogg. His original compositions and arrangements have been programmed by groups such as the United States Air Force Band in Washington D.C., the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”, the First Marine Division Band, the Charleston Symphony Wind Quintet, the Mansfield University Concert Wind Ensemble, the Western New England Brass Choir, the Curtis Institute of Music Brass Ensemble, the San Diego Concert Band, the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, and many others. His orchestration of Lazare Kaminsky’s “The Vow” has been recorded by pianist Barry Goldsmith and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra on the Kleos Classics label. He was the Music Director of the San Diego Concert Band from 2001-2011. Mr. Flores’ concert band works have also been featured at the National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis.
