Mach Morris Moebius is my polite "tip of the hat" to the consummate composer, Percy Grainger, and his brilliant Mock Morris. "Mach" is the speed of sound, named for Ernst Mach (1838-1916). "Morris" is the type of dance portrayed here, with the predominant duple feel and 16th - dotted 8th snap. "Moebius" comes from the Moebius strip, named after Augustus Ferdinand Moebius (1790-1868). It is a cylindrical strip with a twist that, when joined, "A" comes next to "B" and "B" next to "A." I had a difficult time ending the piece, as the ending kept returning to the beginning. It was like going to a restaurant, having a nice meal, paying the check, and blindly wandering around trying desperately to find the exit! The 3/4 dotted-8th measures should be treated as a metric rallentando, conducted in four. Note, also, because many of the parts are divisi within a part, it should be understood that the parts to divide wherever multiple notes are present.
