Randy Veazey
About the Composer - - -
Randy Veazey grew up in McGehee, Arkansas where he was an All-State horn player for three years. He attended Louisiana Tech University and received a B.A. and M.A. in Instrumental Music Education. While at La. Tech, he studied instrumental conducting with Ray Young, horn and trumpet with Bob Cheatham, and percussion and arranging with Gray Barrier. Randy started his public school teaching career in 1984 in Canton, Texas. He’s taught band at all levels from 5th grade through high school. Randy’s been in the Houston area since 1994 spending the majority of his time teaching 5th and 6th grade beginners at Mitchell Intermediate School in The Woodlands, Texas. He performs with The Houston Symphonic Band as a member of both the horn and percussion sections. He also plays horn in The Woodlands Brass, subs on horn for The Regal Brass and freelances in the Houston area on both horn and percussion. After many years of teaching, Randy decided to renew his interest in arranging. Many thanks go to The Houston Symphonic Band and The Texas Brass for not only reading his arrangements, but also providing him the encouragement to pursue publication.
