
Michael A. Mogensen
A native and resident of Hagerstown, MD, composer, arranger, conductor and French horn player Michael A. Mogensen (b. 1973) is an alumnus of the music schools of James Madison University and Ithaca College. He has composed and arranged numerous works for large ensembles and chamber groups, and his compositions for band and orchestra are published primarily through the TRN Music Company. He has held positions with Warner Brothers Publications as well as Disney Music Publishing and has served as an adjudicator, clinician, instructor and guest-conductor for many high school and college level events.
Mogensen's works have been presented throughout the United States and Canada, including performances at the esteemed Music Center at Strathmore and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He has been honored with multiple ASCAP Concert Music Awards as well as the prestigious Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel Composition Prize given by The United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. His commissioned work, AERIAL FANTASY, received a Pulitzer Prize nomination and has been recorded as part of The U.S. Air Force Band's Wild Blue Yonder 60th Anniversary CD. Most recently, Mogensen was the recipient of a Masterworks Prize for living composers, granted by ERMMedia. His award-winning orchestral composition, CHAPTER FINÁL, will be professionally recorded as part of Volume 17 of the CD Series "Masterworks of the New Era" (with a scheduled release date of September 2008).
