Gary P. Gilroy is a professor of music at California State University, Fresno. He assumed the position of Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Marching Band, Danceline, & Colorguard at Fresno State in 1993. Prior to this appointment he has served for a decade as Director of Bands at Fred C. Beyer High School in Modesto, California where his band was awarded several national honors as well as the International Sudler Shield Award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Gilroy also served on the faculty at CSU, Stanislaus and as a graduate assistant at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon where he completed his doctorate in 1995. As an adjudicator for Drum Corps International, Music in the Parks, Youth in the Arts, and Bands of America he has served in 39 states and throughout Canada. He has been involved as a performer or instructor/arranger for many Drum and Bugle Corps including the Santa Clara Vanguard, Valley Fever and the Concord Blue Devils. Gilroy has served on the board of the California Band Directors Association for nine years, is a past President of the Fresno Madera Counties Music Educators Association and currently serves as the Western States Chair for the National Band Association.

Dr. Gilroy is in demand as a guest conductor of many honor bands in California and other western states. In 2002, he served as the conductor for the Oregon Music Educators Association All-State Junior High School Band and the California Band Directors Association All-State High School Symphonic Band. As an ASCAP award-winning composer, Gilroy's music is published for concert band, marching band, and percussion ensembles through the Arrangers Publishing Company, Matrix Publications, Warner Brothers, CPP/Belwin Mills, and now with TRN.
