
Daniel Kallman
Daniel Kallman pursues an active schedule as a composer/arranger and song-writer working in a variety of styles and mediums. Among his numerous commissions have been works for the Minnesota Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Plymouth Music Series, Minneapolis Chamber Symphony, and the Cherry Creek Chorale of Denver, Colorado. He has also written music for the closing ceremonies of the 1991 International Special Olympics and the National Churchwide Assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Kallman has composed extensively for the nonprofessional musician, including several works for community orchestras and choruses as well as college, high school and church ensembles. In 1991 he received a McKnight Fellowship to create an extended work for midi-compatible pipe organ and synthesized sound. Recent premieres include the Te Deum, a ten movement work for concert and gospel choirs, soloist and orchestra encompassing various musical styles in a multicultural context. Future premieres include works for choirs and instrumentalist at Luther College and Northwestern College during the Christmas season. As and arranger, Kallman has worked on concert and recording projects with Philip Brunelle and Garrison Keillor, including the recordings Lake Wobegon Loyalty Days and Songs of the Cat with Keillor and Frederica von Stade. He has also served as music arranger for the Miss Minnesota Pageant recently, completing the orchestrations and arrangements for The Last Minstrel Show, a world premiers musical at the Penumbra Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota. Christi award Ceremony at St. John's University, including Charity and Love, sung by the recipient of the award, Amy Grant. Kallman continues to be involved in vocal music as a performer as well as composer. He has sung with the Dale Warland Singers and cofounded and conducted I Cantanti, a chamber choir based in Northfield, Minnesota. He composes, sings and acts as a founding member of Twin Moon Productions which presents a musical theatre for elementary school children. Kallman also writes music for worship, including hymns, liturgical settings and several published works for church choir. He currently coordinates the musical activities at bethel Lutheran Church in Northfield.
