Gordon Van Wormer was born in Athens, Pennsylvania in 1937. He received his BS in Music Education from Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA in 1959 - his MS in Music from Ithaca College, School of Music, Ithaca, NY in 1965. He has had extensive experience in arranging for choir, dance band, concert band, and orchestra, with some 20 published choral works. He studied composition with Warren Benson. Van Wormer taught at the Corning - Painted Post School District in Corning, New York, for 28 years at the senior high school, teaching concert choir, madrigal ensemble, theory, sight-singing and percussion ensemble. He retired in 1991. He is married to the former Sandra Burdick, who was also a music major at Mansfield University. They have two daughters, Tobi and Nancy.
