Loading... Please wait...David M. Sterrett (ASCAP) was born in 1988 and began playing the trumpet and composing at the age of 11. In 2006 he began studying at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas to receive degrees in both Trumpet Performance and Music Composition, studying with Tom Booth in trumpet and Robert Frank in composition.
David’s portfolio includes unaccompanied solo pieces, various chamber works, and works for choir, wind ensemble, and full orchestra. Recent commissions include a commission by flautist, Nina Chavez in 2007: Splash!, and two separate commissions by conductor, Amanda Drinkwater in 2006 and 2007: Fanfare for the Marcus Band and The Acorn Scandal. Recent world-premieres include The Cross in 2009 by violist, Joseph Holt and harpist, Tamara Iliff, The Acorn Scandal in 2008 by the Marcus High School Symphonic Band, and Fanfare à la Stravinsky in 2008 by the Meadows Wind Ensemble brass.
